The Hull FC Community Foundation are running taster sensory sessions for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Ahead of a brand-new programme run by the Community Foundation, taster sessions are currently taking place to give children a glimpse of what to expect when the full project launches in September.
SEND sensory sessions are for children aged 2-14 with special educational needs and disabilities, whilst there are also individual sessions for babies aged 0-12 months. The sessions for babies will be launching in the near future, with a date to be confirmed in due course.
Following a simple turn-up & play basis, children can come along to the sessions and get involved with the sensory equipment on offer.
In a calm, relaxing environment, children are given freedom to explore the range of sensory toys and equipment in the room, whilst it also gives parents the chance to meet fellow parents of children with similar special educational needs and disabilities.
On offer are a range of sensory toys; including fidgets, balls, musical instruments, puppets and bubbles.
In addition, there are a fantastic range of light sensory equipment; such as fibre optic lights, lava lamps, projectors and disco lights. Not only that, but there is also a large sensory tent.
The next taster SEND sensory session will take place at 9.30-11am on Saturday 27th August at the Bonus Youth Performance Centre, followed by another at the same time on Saturday 10th September.
After this, a weekly block of sessions will be launched to help local children build their confidence, developing key motor skills in the process.
