Community Foundation Champion Of The Month: November

The Hull FC Community Foundation has named Molly Browne as the latest Champion Of The Month for November 2023.

Molly is often found spreading her bubbly personality with fellow participants at the Community Foundation’s Parkinson’s Active sessions.

The Parkinson’s Active project was launched earlier in the autumn, and it has proved to be fast-growing in the local community.

It is a weekly programme, with sessions taking place on Tuesday afternoons (12.30-1.30pm) at the Allam Sport Centre on the University of Hull campus.

The aim of the sessions is to support those diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and other neurological conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, by increasing their physical and mental fitness.

Other participants enjoy being around Molly, such is her positive aurora and warm personality. But she is also seeing the benefits of attending sessions herself.

“Well, the sessions are great fun. It’s a good way for me to improve morale and meet new social contacts,” she said.

“I think it is a really good way of connecting people in the Parkinson’s community. I have made many more great friends just through coming to the sessions that are put on by Hull FC Community Foundation.

“Some of the activities we take part in have allowed me to grow my confidence when it comes to doing physical activity away from Parkinson’s Active, so I am very grateful to the Community Foundation for helping me socially and physically.”
