Volunteers Earn Their Stripes With Community Foundation

The Hull FC Community Foundation is delighted to confirm that eight volunteers have now become qualified coaches.

Through offering their services in their own time, eight volunteers are now working with Hull FC’s Centre of Excellence teams in partnership with the Community Foundation.

It’s thanks to being awarded with Level 2 Rugby League Coaching qualifications, earned through their volunteering work with the Community Foundation.

The Volunteering programme gives people the opportunity to learn the ropes and gain valuable work experience, whilst at the same time getting insight into life behind-the-scenes at Hull FC.

Josh Edwards, who is now able to volunteer for Hull FC’s Wheelchair Rugby League team at the Centre of Excellence, says it is an opportunity he has been desperate to pursue.

“With the coaching qualification, it has now enabled me to volunteer at the club, a club I have a huge passion for,” he said.

“This allows me to help people achieve their goals and enhance their personal development to become who they want to be as a player. I can’t thank the foundation enough for their support.”

Also included in the eight newly qualified coaches is Matthew Davies, who is now volunteering as a coach for the Learning Disability Rugby League team.

“Being asked to attend the Level 2 Rugby League coaching course was a big honour for me because I’ve always been interested in coaching,” he said.

“I’ve used the experience I have gained from my previous employment during the volunteering course and that has really helped me succeed in earning a coaching qualification, which is ultimately down to the Community Foundation.”

In addition, participants on the Volunteering programme receive support with producing a comprehensive CV, giving them the best possible chance of standing out to an employer.
