The Hull FC Community Foundation has named Mike Rhodes as the most recent Champion Of The Month for March 2024.
Mike is a regular attendee of the Community Foundation’s Match Fit sessions.
Running on Monday evenings at the Hull FC Training Facility on County Road, Match Fit is a gym activity session for men that aims to improve physical and mental fitness in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.
Each session involves a real variety of different styles of training in order to keep the sessions interesting and engaging. This includes weights training, HIIT training, circuit training and cardiovascular training.
Sessions are designed to be adaptable for all abilities, with beginners, intermediate and advanced trainers all welcome.
Speaking to hullfcfoundation.co.uk, Mike said: “For me, I noticed a big change in both my physical and mental health as a result of regularly attending the Match Fit sessions.
“It’s hard work but we’re a tight-nit group of guys and we have a great laugh whilst we graft in the gym. It’s just nice to get out on a Monday evening and crack on.
“It was just a case of seeing a post advertising the sessions on Facebook, but I would really encourage more men to come along and try it out.”
Connor Gilbey, coach at the Match Fit sessions, commented: “Mike is a really good character to have around in the sessions.
“He’s always bringing a smile and a laugh with him, but at the same time, he cracks on and constantly works hard.
“Ultimately, he was chosen as our Champion of the Month for March because of his dedication, and it’s great to see him seeing the rewards for his hard graft.”
