The Hull FC Community Foundation will team up with the Hull KR Community Foundation, Age UK Hull and Pickering & Ferens Homes to stage a ‘Winter Olympics’ event as part of Our Best Years this January.
Our Best Years engages with older people to tackle social isolation, and it enjoyed a successful year in 2022, with several sessions taking place across the city per week.
The Winter Olympics event will see participants arranged into teams with games such as quizzes, bingo, boccia, target games and much more to help people stay cheerful after the festive period, with the chance to win some great prizes!
In addition, arts and crafts activities will be on offer, as well as a free buffet and hot and soft drinks.
The Community Foundation will head to the Danish Seamen’s Church in the city centre, along with the Hull KR Community Foundation, Age UK Hull and Pickering & Ferens Homes on Friday 20th January for an afternoon of fun activities.
Although participants require a ticket for the event, tickets are free to book and this can be done by calling 01482 337525.
Doors will open at 12.30pm, with the event getting underway at 1pm and running until 3pm.
Hull FC Community Foundation Head of Health & Wellbeing Maisie Malton said: “January often feels a bit dull after Christmas and the New Year, so we’re hoping to keep people’s spirits high by hosting this special Winter Olympics event.
“We engaged with a lot of people through Our Best Years in 2022, which was just one of a number of successful projects we got off the ground last year.
“Our Best Years is all about bringing people together and putting a smile on their faces, and this is exactly what the Winter Olympics event should do, so I’m looking forward to seeing plenty of people down in a couple of weeks!”
The Danish Seamen’s Church is located on Osborne Street (HU1 2PN), with access provided for drop offs for those travelling with friends/family or via taxi.
Alternatively, there is free 2-hour parking on hand, but this is limited.
