The Hull FC Community Foundation has been encouraged to hear of friendships blossoming between participants through the Fit4FC programme.
Fit4FC sees participants of the Community Foundation’s Match Fit and Unite Fitness programmes come together on a weekly basis at the University of Hull’s Allam Sport Centre.
Since the forming of Fit4FC, the Community Foundation has noticed how participants have grown closer together, demonstrating the social benefits of the programme as well as the physical side.
A group of participants have started meeting up outside of the sessions, going out at the weekend and heading for a coffee on the odd occasion.
Rebecca Counter, Health & Activity Coach at the Community Foundation, said: “The programme was originally created to help local people get active – we understood at the time that people would naturally draw closer by attending the session, but the friendships that have been formed here are especially pleasing.
“The camaraderie at the sessions is great to see, and it’s really no surprise that the friendships have now been taken away from the sessions and some of our participants are making plans in their own spare time.
“The group is really friendly and everyone always welcomes new people in with open arms.”
Running on Wednesday evenings, Fit4FC sees participants engage in a variety of fitness and gym activities, making new friends along the way.
Classes involve gym activities that are adaptable to all fitness levels, as well as providing time to socialise with fellow participants.
These fitness sessions are a fun and friendly way of getting fit, lead by Hull FC’s qualified personal trainers, who are there to support and guide participants throughout the session.
Tailored to each individual’s needs, Fit4FC’s doors are always open to beginners or trainers of a more regular nature.
Sessions take place on Wednesday evenings, 7-8pm at the Allam Sport Centre (Hull University, Inglemire Lane, HU6 7TS) – you can book your place at an upcoming session here.
