During the recent summer holiday period, Hull FC’s Community Foundation engaged with over 1200 young children as part of the free HAF camps.
With over 100 camps running during the six-week summer holidays, there was no shortage of activities for local kids to keep themselves occupied whilst they were off school.
From Rugby League activities to dance and cheerleading classes, there has been something for everyone during the summer holidays.
So much so, that the Community Foundation engaged with over 1200 local juniors at various locations across the region during the summer break.
The running of the camps is all thanks to funding received from Hull City Council through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme – a scheme funded by the Government and delivered by local councils across the summer holidays, providing healthy food and fun activities to children and young people, with free meals available for those that attend.
Reacting to a positive summer of engagement in the region, Hull FC Community Foundation Head of Operations, Sam French, said: “It has been a real delight to be able to engage with well in advance of 1000 kids this summer.
“For local youngsters, the camps that we run are an opportunity to learn and develop skills, as well as giving kids the chance to meet new friends and develop their social skills.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the local organisations and partners that we have worked with regarding the delivery of our HAF summer camps.
“Plus, it would be remiss of me not to thank the hard-working Hull FC Community Foundation coaches, who make projects like this happen.”
