Hull FC Girls U16s Take On Fundraising Challenge Ahead of Toulouse Clash

The Hull FC Community Foundation is proud to showcase the dedication and community spirit of the Girls Under 16s Rugby League team, who will be taking on an ambitious 10‑mile fundraising walk on Sunday 3rd May. Setting off early in the morning, the group will make their way across the city before completing their journey at the MKM Stadium, arriving just ahead of Hull FC’s home fixture against Toulouse Olympique. The challenge is not only a physical test for the players but a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate the values that underpin the girls’ programme: resilience, teamwork, and a commitment to giving back.

This fundraising effort will support two important causes. Firstly, the team are raising money to help fund their own development, including equipment, travel, and opportunities that will continue to grow the girls’ game within the club’s pathway and across the city. Secondly, they are proudly supporting Dove House Hospice, a charity that provides specialist care for people in Hull and the East Riding. The hospice holds particular significance for the squad, as Girls U16s assistant coach Helen Needham works closely with the organisation and has seen first-hand the impact it has on families in the region. The players were determined to use their platform to help raise awareness and funds for a charity that means so much to someone within their coaching team.

The walk will also serve as a moment of celebration for the progress of the girls’ programme at Hull FC, which continues to grow year on year. The U16s squad has shown exceptional commitment both on and off the field, and this challenge reflects their desire to contribute positively to the wider community.

Girls Rugby League Development Lead, Lorien Petitt, expressed her pride in the group’s initiative, saying: “This challenge really reflects the spirit of our Girls U16s. They’re determined, community‑minded, and always willing to go the extra mile, literally in this case. Supporting Dove House Hospice means a great deal to the team, and finishing their walk at the MKM Stadium ahead of a big Hull FC fixture will make the day even more special. I am incredibly proud to be a part of this team.”

The Foundation is encouraging supporters, families, and the wider Hull FC community to get behind the girls as they take on this fantastic challenge. Donations can be made through the Hull FC Community Foundation’s JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/charity/hullfc-communityfoundation
