Hull FC Foundation Launches ‘Creating Connections’ Project Thanks to Royal British Legion Funding

Hull FC Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with the Royal British Legion that will see the launch of Creating Connections, a new project designed to support young people from armed forces families across the region.

Through funding from the Royal British Legion, the project aims to help secondary school-aged children from armed forces families build meaningful friendships, develop confidence, and create lasting connections with others who share similar life experiences.

Delivered through a weekly two-hour youth session, Creating Connections will provide a safe and welcoming environment where young people can take part in a variety of engaging activities shaped by their interests and aspirations.

The programme will offer opportunities to participate in traditional youth activities, including sport and physical activity and creative wellbeing sessions. Alongside this, participants will develop valuable life skills through activities focused on independence, confidence and cooking.

The project will also connect young people with a range of trusted organisations and community partners, helping them access wider opportunities across the city and region.

Sarah Robinson, Armed Forces Community Lead at Hull FC Foundation, said:

“We are incredibly grateful to the Royal British Legion for their support in bringing Creating Connections to life. Children from armed forces families can often face unique challenges, including frequent moves, changing schools, and time away from loved ones due to service commitments. This project will provide a dedicated space where young people can meet others with similar experiences, build friendships, learn new skills, and feel part of a supportive community. We are excited to see the positive impact Creating Connections will have on local armed forces families.”

Sam French, Head of Hull FC Foundation, added:

“The launch of Creating Connections represents another significant step forward in the growth of our Armed Forces provision at Hull FC Foundation. Supporting the armed forces community is a key priority for us, and thanks to the Royal British Legion’s investment, we can now provide a dedicated programme that focuses on the needs of young people from service families. This project strengthens our commitment to ensuring armed forces families feel connected, supported, and valued within our communities, while expanding the positive impact of our Armed Forces section across the region.”

The Foundation will share further de tails on session dates, registration information, and the official launch of the programme in the coming weeks.
