Hull FC Community Foundation is celebrating the success of its Community Club Takeover Evenings, which have engaged more than 2,500 junior rugby league players across Hull and the East Riding throughout the year.

The initiative, delivered in partnership with some of the region’s fantastic community clubs, has provided young players and volunteer coaches with a unique opportunity to learn from Hull FC Foundation coaches and members of the Hull FC First Team squad.

Throughout the takeover evenings, Foundation coaching staff led age-group training sessions at clubs across the area, sharing their expertise while helping to develop players in familiar community club environments. The sessions were further enhanced by the involvement of Hull FC First Team players, who joined training, passed on their experiences from the professional game, and inspired the next generation of rugby league talent.

The programme has strengthened the connection between the professional club, the Foundation, and the thriving grassroots game that continues to produce and nurture young players throughout Hull and the East Riding.

Jasmine Render, from Hull FC Community Foundation, highlighted the impact of the initiative and the importance of supporting the grassroots game.

“Our Community Club Takeover Evenings have been a huge success and have allowed us to directly engage with more than 2,500 young players across the region. The aim has always been to strengthen our relationships with community clubs, support the fantastic work that is already taking place, and provide memorable experiences for players, coaches and volunteers.

“The response from clubs has been incredibly positive. Seeing young players learn from our Foundation coaches and interact with Hull FC First Team players has been fantastic, and the sessions have helped create stronger links throughout the rugby league pathway.

“As we look ahead, we’re already exploring ways to make the programme even bigger and better in 2027 so that we can reach even more players and clubs across Hull and the East Riding. We’d like to thank every community club that welcomed us, our Foundation coaching team for their hard work and commitment, and the Hull FC First Team players who gave up their time to inspire the next generation.”

The Community Club Takeover Evenings form part of Hull FC Community Foundation’s commitment to supporting grassroots rugby league and ensuring young players across the region have access to high-quality coaching, positive experiences and clear development opportunities.

With plans already underway for an expanded programme in 2027, the Foundation looks forward to continuing its support of the community game and building on the success achieved throughout this year’s visits.
