The Hull FC Veterans Project continues from go strength to strength as the Community Foundation offers a series of activities for ex-forces in the local area.
Six different activities are on offer for veterans in the local area to get involved with to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
The weekly schedule for the Hull FC Veterans Project is as follows:
Fitness & Wellbeing Session: Small, light activities to help improve fitness and mental wellbeing of participants. The sessions take place at the Hull FC Community Hub, located next to the MKM Stadium (HU3 6HU), at 1-2pm.
Coffee Morning: Enjoy the fresh air and conversation over a coffee at our Coffee Morning at the Hull FC Community Hub. Along with fellow ex-forces and veterans, engage in conversation to help reduce loneliness. The Coffee Morning takes place at 10am-12pm.
Garden Club: Straight after our Coffee Morning, participants can stick around and take part in our Garden Club session. The garden area outside the Community Hub is never far away from a spruce up, so you can get your hands dirty to help out! The Garden Club takes place at 12-2pm.
Walking Rugby/Multi Sport: These active sessions are aimed towards those who enjoy taking part in sport at a walking pace. These formats provide less stress on the body and with no sudden change of direction or cutting movements, the game allows participants to play without apprehension and at their own pace. The sessions take place at the Centre of Excellence at 6-7pm.
Social & Vets Touch Rugby: A non-competitive format of touch rugby, these sessions are great for improving fitness as well as meeting new people. Our friendly regulars enjoy the much reduced contact version of the game. The sessions take place at the Centre of Excellence at 6-7pm.
Wheelchair Rugby: Running at the same time as our touch rugby sessions, taking place indoors at the Centre of Excellence is our Wheelchair Rugby training sessions. The Hull Wheelchair team compete in the Wheelchair Super League, taking on some of the world’s very best players. Come along and give it a go!
