The open day will have a specific focus on the club’s College Rugby Academy, providing an insight into the expert coaching and facilities available at the Centre of Excellence. Learners will also take part in on-field and off-field based activates in conjunction with University of Hull partners.

Opportunities are provided for all at the Centre of Excellence, so learners do not have to be part of Hull FC’s rugby pathway to study at the sports college. The education programme is designed in a way where both aspiring rugby players and sporting professionals can unlock their potential.

With the opportunity to learn, work and play as a part of the Centre of Excellence, the balance between theory and practical activities is ideal for students to develop knowledge and experience within the sports industry and how their academic studies can better them as athletes.

The College Rugby Academy is directly aligned to the club’s rugby development pathway from grassroots to first-team, giving students the opportunity to pursue a professional rugby career if they wish – with both elite and recreational playing opportunities available.

Several players currently involved in the first-team squad have come through the club’s educational pathway, including young fullback Davy Litten and Matty Laidlaw, who have both debuted at Super League level.

Meanwhile, a handful of youngsters have earned a place in Hull FC’s Academy squad by impressing for the Sports College Rugby Academy

Courses available at the Centre of Excellence include an NCFE Level 2 and NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports and Physical Activity.

Working with high profile education providers, SCL, who also partner the likes of West Ham, Leeds United and Yorkshire County Cricket, Hull FC’s education delivery is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Students also receive a host of benefits from Hull FC, including free training attire, discounts in the club stores, complimentary tickets to home games, and access to free travel in the Hull area.

Hosted at the University of Hull, students will also be able to see the opportunities available to continue learning at the site into higher education, including how the University programmes are also aligned to Hull FC.
