Great Success For Sports College On Results Day

The Hull FC College, part of the club’s Centre of Excellence, is once again celebrating some incredible results on Results Day 2023!

97% of all students across the college’s various courses achieved their target grade or above, including our NCFE Level 2 & 3 courses in Sport & Physical Activity.

And after a successful time within the Hull FC Centre of Excellence programme, 93% of learners already have their immediate future secured, progressing into either further or higher education, or into employment.

The Centre of Excellence offers an unrivalled rugby league programme combining coaching, development, and education to give young players and students the very best opportunity to progress into professional sport – both playing and off field roles.

It is also the next step on the Hull FC pathway to academy and first-team for elite minded students, proudly representing our club and sharing our values, aspirations and club colours from scholarship to first-grade.

It provides young rugby league players or budding sports professionals a tailor-made route for a career in sport, removing all the traditional limitations of other providers as well as offering first-hand experience in a professional club.

Head of Education at Hull FC, Jack Lazenby, commented: “This year’s graduating students underwent a huge transition this year, as the Centre of Excellence relocated to the University of Hull’s state of the art facility – they have all conducted themselves extremely well within this transition.

“It is an exciting stage in the lives of our students, as they start their journey into higher education, employment in and outside the sporting sector, as well as a very exciting cohort progressing into our first-grade squad. During their time at the Centre of Excellence Sports College, they have achieved the grades and accumulated invaluable experience to ensure further success in the years to come thanks to their time with the college.

“Hull FC college prides itself in ensuring students who graduate from the college are monitored closely and assist the learners in any way we can to enable them to be successful. All the staff at Hull FC’s Sports College would like to wish them good luck for their futures.”

Hull FC Academy player Mackenzie Harman, who graduated from the Sports College this summer, has recently been training with the Black & Whites’ first-team squad.

He said: “The Sports College is a great way to develop as a young athlete for people interested in pursuing a career as a sportsperson.

“The education programme is built around developing as an athlete, so everything we learn can be applied to what we are doing as young rugby league players.

“As I’ve said before, the Sports College at Hull FC is the best place to give you a chance of making it because there is so much flexibility around the courses.”
