Our Best Years Programme To Head ‘On The Road’

Hull FC Community Foundation’s popular ‘Our Best Years’ programme is set to head out on the road this September in an exciting new format.

Our Best Years, which was established in late 2021, is a project that engages with older people in a bid to tackle social isolation through its routinely regular sessions and activities every week.

Weekly sessions take place at the Hull FC Community Hub and Ada Holmes Circle, working in partnership with Age UK Hull and Pickering & Ferens Homes.

In the new ‘Our Best Years – On The Road’ scheme, local care homes, residential homes and sheltered living areas are being invited to book for Hull FC Community Foundation staff to deliver four weeks of sessions.

The Community Foundation are looking to take bookings from September, for local care homes and residential homes that would be interested in us coming in to deliver four weeks of sessions.

Activities at the sessions will include boccia, bingo, quizzes, and heritage discussions, giving Rugby League supporters the opportunity to reminisce on some of their favourite memories from watching the sport.

Rebecca Counter, Hull FC Community Foundation’s Health & Wellbeing Lead, said: “We’re always thinking of new ways to evolve our projects here, and we feel this is a great way for local residents to sample one of our most successful programmes.

“Our Best Years is always a project that puts smiles on people’s faces. We’re really looking forward to heading out into the community and meeting lots of new people that we can hopefully make a difference for.”

For local organisations that would be interested in booking the four-week block of sessions, please email health@hullfc.com.
