Families Learning Together Participants Visit The MKM Stadium

The Hull FC Community Foundation were delighted to welcome participants of the successful ‘Families Learning Together’ programme to the MKM Stadium earlier this month.

Families Learning Together (FLT) was established earlier in 2024, a programme which strives to bring local families together as the Community Foundation deliver a series of workshops and activity sessions centred around life skills and employment support.

Families at Chiltern Primary School benefitted from the programme, which drew to a close at the end of the 2023/24 school term. Plans are now in place to relaunch the FLT programme at more local schools when the new academic year starts in September.

In the meantime, there are still sessions running every Tuesday (3-5pm) throughout the summer holidays at Hull FC’s Community Hub in West Park, giving families the chance to pick up some life skills in a fun and engaging way.

During the summer holidays, the Hull FC Community Foundation thought it would be a good idea to reward the participants of the FLT programme by inviting them as special guests to the MKM Stadium, home of the Black & Whites.

They joined us at Hull FC’s home match against St Helens earlier in August, to celebrate their achievements and reward them for their commitment and hard work throughout the programme.

Not only did participants come to watch the action, they were also treated to an exclusive tour of the MKM Stadium, checking out the changing rooms, the dugouts, and the press suite.

Maisie Malton, the Hull FC Community Foundation’s Head of Programmes, said: “Everyone at the Community Foundation has been delighted with the impact the Families Learning Together programme has had in its pilot year.

“We have seen a group of families that have been brought together, as the Families Learning Together programme allows them to spend some quality time together, whilst fostering better relationships.

“It’s been great fun to run all of the activities with the families at Chiltern Primary School and we have received some great feedback from the families that took part in the programme, with some people particularly noting that they have improved with their communication skills between one another.

“As well as the programme supporting adults into getting back into work, they have had the opportunity to take part in a range of different activities that support them with general life skills that increase confidence and enhance resilience in handling personal stress and challenges such as managing finances and utilising time.

“So it was a pleasure to be able to reward them with the MKM Stadium visit recently, and we are now really looking forward to picking the programme up at a number of different venues when the school year gets back underway next month.”
