The Hull FC Community Foundation is set to run a series of free accredited programmes, one of which aims to help young people work towards a career within the retail industry.
Supporting learners to enhance their employability skills by providing recognised vocational qualifications, employability and personal skills, the Community Foundation has already helped several people work their way towards employment already.
But now, with the introduction of a new free Adult Skills Programme, the Community Foundation is looking to help more people, offering youngsters under the age of 19 with the opportunity to earn a Level 2 Certificate in Retail Skills.
This qualification aims to provide an introduction to the retail industry to those new to, or seeking employment in this area, helping learners develop an understanding of the different aspects of working in the retail sector.
It is a free and unique employability programme designed to support jobseekers across the region in finding work by raising skills and confidence, whilst assisting learners throughout the application to work process.
Each session involves a range of classroom and practical activities delivered by highly qualified tutors. Learners will be given the opportunity to progress on to a range of Hull FC programmes, depending on their specific goals.
Delivered from the Hull FC facilities and the Community Foundation’s outreach sites across Hull, the programme has helped more than one in three learners find a job during or within six weeks of finishing the course with local businesses.
There will be two training days per week, running from 10am until 3pm.
