Ryan Campbell – Growing Through Volunteering with Hull FC Community Foundation

Case Study: Ryan Campbell – Growing Through Volunteering with Hull FC Community Foundation

When Ryan Campbell first joined the Hull FC Community Foundation, he was looking for an opportunity to build his confidence, learn new skills, and gain valuable experience from the Foundation’s experienced coaching staff. What began as a desire to learn has since developed into a powerful journey of personal growth, teamwork, and achievement.

“I got involved with volunteering at Hull FC Foundation because I wanted to gain experience and learn new skills from the coaches,” says Ryan. “The impact it’s had on my personal development is massive, I’m more confident in what I do, and I’ve learned how to work as part of a team or take charge when I need to.”

Through his commitment and positive attitude, Ryan has become a key part of the Foundation’s volunteering team. His dedication saw him take part in the Exploring Opportunities UKSPF programme, where he gained a Level 1 Rugby League Coaching Qualification, a significant milestone that reflects both his hard work and the support of the Foundation’s staff.

Sam French, Head of Foundation, shared his praise for Ryan’s journey and ongoing contribution:

“We’re absolutely delighted to have Ryan as part of our volunteering team. His progression through the Exploring Opportunities UKSPF programme has been brilliant to see. Ryan has worked hard to achieve his Level 1 Rugby League Coaching qualification and now regularly volunteers across our weekly sessions. He’s a great example of how dedication and enthusiasm can open doors to future opportunities.”

Ryan’s journey with the Foundation has not only helped him gain qualifications but also strengthened his aspirations for a career in the sports sector.

“I’d like to get more experience, which could possibly lead to a job in sport,” he explains. “The Foundation has taught me so many skills that I’ll use for life. I’d tell anyone to go to Hull FC Foundation for any course they want to do. The staff are great and easy to get along with, making it easier for me to develop”

Ryan’s story is a fantastic example of how volunteering can build confidence, develop leadership, and create real pathways into employment. The Hull FC Community Foundation is proud to support individuals like Ryan who are committed to making a difference, both for themselves and for their community.
