Hull FC Foundation welcomes The Soldiers Rest as Community Ambassador for 2026

Hull FC Foundation is proud to announce The Soldiers Rest as a new Community Ambassador for 2026, strengthening its commitment to supporting current and former Armed Forces personnel across the city. Through this partnership, The Soldiers Rest will work closely with the Foundation’s Armed Forces in the Community programme, with a particular focus on enhancing the Cookhouse Project.

As part of their ambassador role, The Soldiers Rest will visit the Cookhouse session once a month, providing additional hot meals and further food support for both current and former serving personnel. These visits will also include access to practical cooking workshops delivered by Lee Phillipson, Head Chef and Business Director at The Soldiers Rest. The sessions aim to offer not only nutritious meals but also a welcoming environment where individuals can learn new skills, build confidence, and enjoy the social benefits of cooking together.

Lee Phillipson, Head Chef and Business Director at The Soldiers Rest, said: “Partnering with Hull FC Foundation and the Cookhouse Project means a great deal to us. At The Soldiers Rest, we see every day how important good food, routine, and community are, especially for those who have served. By bringing hot meals and practical cooking workshops into this space, we want to offer more than just a plate of food; we want to offer comfort, skills, and a sense of belonging.”

Ashley Phillipson, Events Manager at The Soldiers Rest, added: “This partnership is a natural fit for us. Our events and catering work have always had people at its heart, and working with the Armed Forces community through Hull FC Foundation allows us to give something back in a meaningful way. We’re excited to help create welcoming, social occasions around food where veterans and serving personnel can relax, talk, and feel valued.”

Sarah Robinson, Armed Forces in the Community Lead at Hull FC Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to welcome The Soldiers Rest as a Community Ambassador for 2026. Their expertise in hospitality, combined with a genuine passion for supporting the Armed Forces community, will add real value to our Cookhouse Project. The additional meals and workshops will help us reach more people, more often, and ensure that those who have served, and those still serving, know they have a place where they are always welcome.”
