Hull FC Community Foundation and ARK Alternative Provision Launch New Partnership to Inspire Young People Through Sport

Hull FC Community Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with ARK Alternative Provision, which will see the Foundation deliver its impactful Game Changer programme to young people based at the education centre.

The partnership has been established to support boys aged 13-16 who are experiencing significant life challenges and the challenge of mainstream school environments, using the power of sport as a catalyst for positive change.

Delivery will see the Foundation staff head into the provision across two days each week within ARK Alternative Provision’s education centre, Game Changer has been designed to instil pro-social behaviours, raise aspirations and equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to thrive both in education and in everyday life.

As part of the programme, young people will have the opportunity to gain accredited Level 1 qualifications through the Leadership Skills Foundation, while also taking part in a series of workshops focused on personal development, leadership and wellbeing.

Participants will engage in activities that promote both physical and mental health, including multi-sport sessions and the Foundation’s Ahead of the Game workshop, which focuses on developing mental resilience and positive coping strategies.

A key element of the programme will centre around the development of life skills, aligned to ten core life skills: problem solving, critical thinking, communication, decision making, creative thinking, interpersonal relationship skills, self-awareness, empathy, coping with stress and coping with emotions.

To support this learning journey, each participant will be provided with a personal ‘Skills Passport’, allowing them to track their progress and reflect on how they can adopt positive behaviours in their daily lives. Through both one-to-one and group delivery, the programme will also explore themes around respect, healthy relationships and positive masculinity, helping young people navigate some of the challenges they face in modern society.

Speaking about the new partnership, Sam French, Head of Foundation at Hull FC Community Foundation, said:

“We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with ARK Alternative Provision to deliver the Game Changer programme from September. At Hull FC Community Foundation, we firmly believe that sport can be a powerful tool for engagement, education and personal growth.

“This programme goes far beyond physical activity. Through accredited qualifications, life skills development and meaningful mentoring opportunities, we want to help young people build confidence, resilience and aspirations for the future.

“Working alongside Allison and the team at ARK Alternative Provision allows us to support young people who may be facing significant challenges, providing them with the tools and opportunities to make positive choices, develop new behaviours and unlock their potential.”
