Hull FC College has received ‘Direct Claim Status’ from course awarding body NCFE, which is awarded to centres which are graded ‘excellent’ across all available criteria.
The college, which forms part of the club’s Centre of Excellence, was assessed on criteria including planning, marking, assessing and pastoral care.
Hull FCs Head of Education Ryan Langton discussed the recent quality assurance visit.
“Over the last three years we have worked extremely hard to improve our academic pathway; building a pathway we are now extremely proud of.
“Learners are subject to an academic pathway which sees them experience all aspects of the sporting industry from becoming a professional athlete, to working in the community coaching through the medium of a vocationally assessed college pathway.
“Achieving direct claim status is an achievement we are really proud of”
Hull FC College currently offers an array of NCFE programmes ranging from a Level 2 Diploma in Sport to a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Physical Activity. A sample of almost 25% of the college cohort was provided and all work sampled was returned as excellently presented by the student and excellently assessed by the staff.
Hull FC College staff are recognised as providing well detailed, fair and constructive feedback to learners giving them the best possible opportunity to expand their learning and reach their potential.
“The staff within the college are brilliant, they’re all experts in their field and they’re able to provide a high level of teaching which students are able to relate to.”
As part of becoming direct claim status, Hull FC College would no longer need to have their work sampled; however, for the purpose of good practice and to ensure standards maintain at the level expected, Hull FC College have opted to remain part of the annual quality assurance visits from NCFE.
“We are really proud of the academic offer we provide; ensuring this offer maintains its high standards alongside the first-rate Rugby League pathway we offer is extremely important and that is why we have chosen to remain within the quality assurance visits.”
If you’re interested in joining the Hull FC College for the 2020/21 academic year, our Centre of Excellence will be hosting three open days over the coming weeks at their Pickering Road campus on August 10th, 17th, and 24th.
