The Hull FC Community Foundation will launch ‘Unite Fitness’ this January to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of local women.
Unite Fitness is simply an extension of the Community Foundation’s ‘Unite’ programme, which has been running successfully for several weeks before the turn of the year.
The sister project will still incorporate the social, educational and empowerment components of Unite, but the fitness sessions will look to hone in on the physical development of its attendees in a fun, friendly and non-judgemental environment.
Beginning on Tuesday 11th January, the 45-minute fitness sessions will be followed by a variety of social and educational empowerment activities.
Organisations like HEY Mind, nutritionists, personal trainers, sports, and exercise coaches will visit a number of sessions, to provide useful tips, advice and support.
Maisie Malton, Head of Health & Wellbeing said: “We had a super start to the Unite programme before Christmas, so we want to add a slightly different dynamic to the project now to help it grow.
“We want to provide women with a safe environment where they feel comfortable and confident whilst exercising because I think that can be a huge barrier for somebody who is looking to try out a new class or look to start getting fit.
Unite Fitness sessions start on Tuesday 11th January at 6-7.30pm, running every Tuesday at the Centre of Excellence, based off Pickering Road.
Free childcare is available alongside the sessions to allow mothers to attend.
