There’s been more positive feedback for Hull FC Community Foundation’s ‘Play2Potential’ programme, which helps local youngsters make new friendships through the power of sport.
Funded by Humber Violence Prevention Partnership in a bid to decrease crime rates amongst young people, the Community Foundation run two separate sessions per week.
The programme helps to engage local youngsters through sporting activities, with the Community Foundation delivering basketball sessions on Friday evenings and football sessions on Monday nights.
Over 150 local youngsters have engaged with Play2Potential since it was launched almost two years ago, with the Community Foundation’s impact in the area being felt.
We recently reported how the basketball activities have been having a strong impact in the local area – and we have now received some great feedback from some of our Play2Potential participants who get involved in the football activities on Mondays.
Joseph, aged 16, said: “I like to have a kick about with my friends and I come to the sessions on a regular basis. It just gives us a safe space to play football for free.”
Mason, who is 10, said he enjoys meeting new friends at the sessions.
“I love coming to the Monday nights because we can play football matches with our friends for free and also meet new people.
For Macy, also aged 10, it provides an opportunity to get out of the house and be active.
“I like being active, so the sessions actually gets me out of the house to do some physical activity, which I really enjoy.”
