During the latest half-term break, the Hull FC Community Foundation and Tigers Trust teamed up to host the Families Learning Together celebration at the MKM Stadium.
This event brought families together to recognise their accomplishments in completing the Families Learning Together programme, delivered in partnership with Humber Learning Consortium.
The day was packed with fun activities, with a big party, delicious food and a stadium tour, which all of the children found particularly interesting.
Maisie Malton, Head of Programmes at the Hull FC Community Foundation, said: “It was a wonderful way to celebrate the achievements of our families and to foster a sense of community and connection.
“The programme is designed to support unemployed parents by providing life skills training in areas like money management, stress awareness, CV writing and job searching.
“Our goal is to help families in any way we can, inspiring them to consider pathways toward gaining qualifications, volunteering, and even employment opportunities.
We also offer a valuable chance for parents to spend quality time with their children, participating together in fun activities that strengthen family bonds.
The Families Learning Together programme, currently delivered in schools, has been a tremendous success, making a meaningful impact on families.
One parent said: “The money management session we did was really useful because it reminds you how you can actually reduce spending on certain things.
“The cooking on a budget part was fantastic. It showed us how easy it is to make a ‘fakeaway’ instead of spending on McDonald’s every week, and how quick and simple it was to prepare.
“The kids loved cooking too; it’s not something we usually do at home, especially with them, so it was a new experience for all of us. It was wonderful to spend time together doing something different and fun.”
