St Mary’s Care Homes has proudly been announced as the official team sponsor of the Hull FC Under 16s Girls team for the 2026 season, marking an exciting new partnership between a community‑focused care provider and one of the region’s fastest growing youth pathways. The sponsorship will support the continued development of the girls’ programme, helping provide resources, equipment, and opportunities that strengthen the pathway for young female athletes within Rugby League.
This partnership also carries a special connection to Hull FC’s heritage through club legend Johnny Whiteley MBE. The Whiteley family officially opened St Mary’s Riverside Care Home in West Hull, a moment that cemented a meaningful bond between the home and the club’s proud history. Today, the care home continues to honour his legacy, displaying treasured memorabilia including his England Rugby League cap, an iconic symbol of his achievements and lifelong dedication to the sport. The presence of these items within the home serves as a daily reminder of the values Johnny embodied: commitment, community, and an unwavering passion for Hull FC.
Lorien Pettit, Girls Development Lead at Hull FC Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the shared values that underpin the partnership. “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome St Mary’s Care Homes into the Hull FC family for the 2026 season. Their commitment to supporting young people and investing in local communities aligns perfectly with what we’re building within the girls’ pathway. This partnership will make a real difference to our girl’s rugby league section as they continue to grow, compete, and represent the club with pride.”
The partnership also reflects St Mary’s Care Homes’ wider commitment to community engagement, championing positive opportunities for young people across Hull and the East Riding. Steven Davis, CEO of St Mary’s Care Homes, spoke about why the organisation was eager to get involved. “Supporting the Hull FC Under 16s Girls team felt like a natural fit for us. We’re passionate about backing initiatives that empower the next generation, and the dedication shown by these young athletes is truly inspiring. Being able to contribute to their journey is something we’re incredibly proud of, and we’re excited to see the partnership grow with our four care homes in the Hull area.”
With the 2026 season underway, the partnership sets a strong foundation for a season full of development, ambition, and opportunity. Hull FC and St Mary’s Care Homes look forward to working together to champion the future of the girls’ game and celebrate the achievements of the Under 16s squad throughout the year.
