The Hull FC Foundation is proud to announce the launch of Match Fit, a brand‑new community mental health and wellbeing programme designed to support men living in areas of high deprivation who are experiencing challenges with common mental health conditions.
Delivered in partnership with Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and Health Stars, Match Fit will run for the full year, from May 2025, until May 2026, offering a safe, supportive, and physically active environment for men who may be struggling with their wellbeing.
What Match Fit Offers
The project provides a free weekly session, built around touch rugby activity that supports improvements in physical health, confidence, social connection, and resilience. Participants will take part in 45 minutes of accessible, non‑contact Touch Rugby League designed to get people moving, build confidence, and encourage teamwork. The sessions create a space where men can connect with others, develop positive routines, and enjoy the benefits of being active in a supportive environment.
Jasmine Render, Head of Health and Wellbeing at the Hull FC Foundation, said:
“Match Fit is about creating a space where men feel able to talk, move, and connect without judgement. We know that many men struggle in silence, especially in communities facing high levels of deprivation. This project gives them a supportive environment, practical tools, and a team around them. We’re incredibly proud to launch this programme with our partners and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have across our city.”
The Hull FC Foundation remains committed to delivering programmes that improve physical and mental wellbeing across the region. Match Fit represents a significant step in widening access to support for men who may not otherwise engage with traditional mental health services.
