Hull FC Community Foundation is proud to celebrate the incredible achievement of Corey Davies, a standout player in the club’s Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) programme, who recently made his international debut for England in a fixture against Wales.
Corey, who lives with Cerebral Palsy, has been a key figure in Hull FC’s PDRL team, demonstrating exceptional commitment, resilience, and leadership. His journey through the Foundation’s inclusive rugby pathways has inspired many, including his father, Matt Davies, a local veteran, who joined the Foundation’s “Set of Six” programme and earned his Level 2 coaching qualification to support Corey and the wider team.
Corey’s rise has been marked by several accolades, including being named Hull FC’s Disability Player of the Year, a nomination for the Young Achiever Award at the Disability Sport Yorkshire Awards, and selection as one of England PDRL’s Youth Ambassadors. These honours reflect his dedication to the sport and his role as a positive influence within the disability rugby league community.
His recent selection for the England PDRL side and appearance in the international fixture against Wales is a landmark moment, not only for Corey but for Hull FC Community Foundation’s mission to promote inclusivity and opportunity through sport.
“To receive my first England Cap was a dream come true. All the hard work and time waiting was worth it. Walking out with my younger sister and brother to sing the National Anthem is an experience that will last for a long time!” — Corey Davies
PDRL Head Coach Reece Hudson followed on to mention, “We are incredibly proud of Corey,” “His journey from local player to international representative embodies everything we stand for, empowerment, inclusion, and community. Corey’s success is a powerful reminder that rugby league is a sport for everyone.”
Hull FC Community Foundation continues to expand its inclusion programmes, with over 100 participants involved across PDRL, LDRL, Wheelchair, Women’s, and Girls teams. Corey’s story is a shining example of how these initiatives create meaningful pathways for individuals of all abilities.
