Preserving Black & White History: A New Digital Platform Backed by The National Lottery Heritage Fund

Hull FC has always been shaped by the people who follow it, the families who pass down their passion, the supporters who fill the stands, and the generations who have carried the Black & White spirit with pride. Today, that shared history finds a new digital home with the launch of Memories with Hull FC, an exciting heritage website created by the Hull FC Community Foundation in partnership with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

This new platform has been designed to bring supporters together through the stories, memorabilia, and memories that define the club’s identity. For decades, fans have collected programmes, shirts, ticket stubs, photographs, and countless personal treasures. These items are more than keepsakes; they are pieces of Hull FC’s living history. Memories with Hull FC gives supporters the chance to upload these cherished items, add their own reflections, and help build a growing archive that celebrates the club’s past through the eyes of the people who lived it.

Speaking about the launch, Sam French, Head of the Hull FC Community Foundation, reflected on just how personal the project feels to him. “Hull FC has always been woven into my family’s story. My grandad stood on the terraces, my dad carried it on, and I’ve grown up doing the same. Those memories aren’t just moments – they’re the threads that tie generations together. This platform gives us a way to honour that. Memories with Hull FC is about celebrating the people who make this club what it is, and making sure their stories aren’t just remembered, but cherished.”

Alongside the digital platform, the Foundation continues to bring supporters together through its monthly heritage evenings, special events that spark conversation, connection, and nostalgia. These gatherings have become a cherished part of the club’s community calendar, offering fans the chance to revisit iconic moments such as the unforgettable 2005 Challenge Cup victory and the years that followed. Former players, lifelong supporters, and new generations come together to share stories, relive the atmosphere of those historic matches, and celebrate the memories that have shaped Hull FC. These evenings not only honour the club’s past but also inspire new stories that will one day become part of its heritage.

Jasmine Render, Heritage Programme Lead at the Foundation, shared her excitement about what the new platform means for supporters. “Our heritage evenings have shown just how powerful it is when fans come together to share their memories. This website takes that same spirit and makes it accessible to everyone, every day. Whether someone has a box of old programmes or a single photo that means the world to them, every contribution helps build a richer, more personal history of Hull FC.”

The website mirrors the spirit of these events by offering a space where fans can share memories, comment on others, and connect with fellow supporters who have walked the same journey. Every upload adds another layer to the story of Hull FC, creating a digital community where history is preserved, celebrated, and continually expanded. Whether it’s a rare photograph, a matchday memory, or a personal story passed down through generations, each contribution helps keep the heritage of the club alive.

This project reflects the heart of Hull FC: its supporters. By bringing together the memorabilia and memories that have shaped the club, Memories with Hull FC ensures that the Black & White legacy will continue to grow for years to come. The site is now live and ready to explore, offering fans a chance to relive the moments that matter and to help preserve the history of Hull FC for future generations.
